Job Description
The Sales Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the sales team, driving revenue growth, and ensuring excellent customer service within the paints and building materials market. The role involves managing sales representatives, maintaining relationships with key customers such as hardware stores, contractors, and distributors, and ensuring sales targets are achieved within the assigned region.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise, guide, and motivate the sales team to achieve individual and team sales targets.
• Develop and implement sales strategies to grow market share for paints and building materials.
• Monitor daily sales activities, including field visits, customer engagement, and product promotion.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with hardware stores, contractors, developers, and distributors.
• Identify new business opportunities and expand the company’s customer base.
• Monitor competitor activities, market trends, and pricing in the construction materials sector.
• Ensure proper product display, branding, and merchandising at customer outlets.
• Prepare and submit sales reports, forecasts, and performance analysis to management.
• Support the team in negotiations, order processing, and resolving customer complaints.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, pricing structures, and credit control procedures.
• Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery of orders.
• Train and mentor sales representatives to improve product knowledge and selling skills.
Qualifications and Experience
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in sales, preferably in paints, construction materials, or FMCG.
• At least 1–2 years in a supervisory role is an added advantage.
• Proven experience managing distributor and hardware store networks.
• Strong understanding of the Kenyan construction and building materials market.
• Valid driving license with willingness to travel extensively within assigned regions.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight sales targets.
