Health & Safety Specialist

Location: Kenya

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Specialist to support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental standards across multiple operational sites. The successful candidate will conduct safety audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and compliance inspections while promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring adherence to statutory and company HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct workplace health and safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
• Investigate incidents and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
• Monitor contractor compliance with safety standards and permit-to-work systems.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills and crisis response.
• Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and coach store teams on health and safety best practices.
• Maintain statutory HSE records and monitor compliance with OSHA and ISO 45001 requirements.
• Track safety performance metrics and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Public Health, Risk Management, or a related field.
• NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent professional HSE certification.
• ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification is an added advantage.
• 3–5 years' experience in health and safety within retail, FMCG, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or similar multi-site environments.
• Strong knowledge of incident investigation, risk assessment, contractor safety management, and statutory compliance.
• Excellent communication, training, and stakeholder management skills.
