Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a corporate communications strategy aligned with business goals and brand positioning
- Define and manage corporate messaging, narrative, and reputation across stakeholders
- Establish protocols for media engagement, crisis communication, and executive messaging
- Build and manage relationships with media; handle press releases, interviews, and inquiries
- Serve as spokesperson and lead crisis and reputation management efforts
- Support executives with speeches, thought leadership, and public positioning
- Manage executive communications, appearances, and social media presence
- Engage with government, regulators, industry bodies, and community stakeholders
- Lead CSR communications, partnerships, and stakeholder engagement initiatives
- Oversee internal communications to inform, align, and engage employees
- Manage internal channels (emails, intranet, town halls) and leadership messaging
- Plan and execute corporate events, ensuring strong brand representation
- Oversee development of corporate content (reports, profiles, presentations, multimedia)
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment of all communication materials
- Develop and manage crisis communication frameworks and responses
- Monitor media coverage, reputation, and stakeholder sentiment
- Track performance using KPIs, analytics, and reporting
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve communication effectiveness continuously
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, Business Administration, or related field. A master's degree in Communications, Corporate Communications, or MBA is an advantage.
- Professional certification from the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK), Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), or equivalent international body.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or media relations roles, with at least 3-5 years in a senior or specialist capacity in retail, FMCG, consumer-facing industries, or large-scale corporate environments preferred
- Understanding of the East African media landscape, regulatory environment, and stakeholder dynamics.
- Demonstrated experience managing corporate crises, sensitive issues, and reputation threats with successful outcomes.
