HSE OFFICER

Our client, a well-established FMCG in Mombasa is seeking to recruit a HSE officer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that employers and workers comply with safety legislation and that safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to.

Reports to: Plant Manager

Job Description

• Ensure compliance with Food, health and environmental safety standards throughout the company
• Be champion in your respective department in creating awareness of the food safety management system.
• Carry out duties as per the requirements of ISO 22000:2000, ISO 45001:2018 AND ISO 14001: 2015                                            
• Monitoring all health, safety, and hygiene practices in the working places.
• Supervising all fumigation activities in all warehouses and other surrounding premises to control infestation
• Constitute health and safety committee.
• Maintain safety reticulation e.g. fire detection and fighting equipment.
• Ensure the working practices are safe and comply with legislation;
• Preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policy;
• Carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced including medical checkups for the staff.
• Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards;
• Carrying out regular site inspections to ensure policies and procedures are being properly implemented;
• Keeping records of inspections findings and producing reports that suggest improvements;
• Keeping records of incidents and accidents and producing statistics to the management
• Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, use of PPEs and occupational diseases.
• Train the staff on Health and safety matters especially in waste management, waste water, air pollution, noise levels and surface drainage.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:                                                                                                                      

Bachelor / Diploma in Occupation, Health and safety management

Added advantage: - Experience in similar position for 2 yrs.
